Ski Vermont Winter in its Original State. It serves its 18 Alpine and 31 Nordic member resorts in three major areas: Governmental Affairs, Marketing and Public Affairs.

Ski Vermont (Vermont Ski Areas Association) is a proud ambassador of the thriving winter tourism industry in Vermont, where the legislature has designated skiing and snowboarding as the official state sports. Vermont is not only the #1 ski state in the east and third in the US, but also reigns supreme in snowmaking quality and coverage, variety of terrain and historical impact on the sports of skiing and snowboarding - making it one of the most significant ski and ride destinations in the world. Ski Vermont’s mission is to help create a legislative, economic and social environment in which the state's ski areas can grow and prosper.

We had a blast at thepipelineproject.ski’s Career Exploration event at Killington Resort last Friday! Almost 200 high school students from across Vermont came out for hands-on demos of the full-time operations jobs that keep a ski area running, from food service and lift maintenance to snowmaking and grooming. The ski industry runs year-round, and we want students to know it’s a great place to build a career.

Special thanks to Prinoth Snow Groomers, Leitner-Poma of America, and Killington for making an unforgettable experience.

At Ski Vermont, our job is to support our ski areas in many ways. One way to support them is by getting them in front of the media to help tell their stories. We once again invited journalists and content creators to meet with ski area reps in New York City for our annual media event. It was a great time, and it's an awesome chance to make connections and talk up how special our state is. The link to our blog story can be found in the link in our profile.

What a great way to end of our fall Ski Career Exploration event series by getting the attention of the local media to learn and spread awareness of the long-term and viable ski careers that the ski industry has to offer!

As you sip your coffee and feel winter coming - take comfort that the pipeline of the next generation of ski industry professionals are coming!

Thank you to the educators, resort members, and industry partners for attending!

Thank you to our workforce partners - Leitner-Poma of America and Prinoth Snow Groomers - our host and networking luncheon sponsor, Killington Resort, for being a key part of this special day and special shout out to Ski Vermont for being the catalyst to making this day happen and believing in our work!

We've all heard woolly bear caterpillar stripes are an old-timey predictor of what to expect for winter. But did you know bears, skunks, beavers, moss, mice, and groundhogs also have an affinity for predicting winters? Neither did we! We cracked into Ski Vermont's history vault and found an enlightening old press release from 1980 that told us just that.

We can't predict the winter. But can our critters? Hey, Vermont Fish & Wildlife, what do you think???
