This week, we’re proud to spotlight Cameron, a SLB Company—a true industry pioneer and a valued member of the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce!

Celebrating 100 Years of Innovation
Founded in 1920 by Harry Cameron and James Abercrombie, Cameron made history just two years later by inventing the world’s first blowout preventer (BOP)—revolutionizing oil and gas safety and setting a global standard still used today.

💡 Over the last century, Cameron has introduced groundbreaking innovations:
🔹 The first 10,000-psi production tree (1945)
🔹 The CAMERON T30 welded ball valve—an industry standard (1960)
🔹 Game-changing surface and offshore ram-type BOPs
🔹 DrillPilot software to improve drilling safety and performance (2017)
…and so much more.

With operations in 100+ countries, Cameron remains a powerhouse in pressure control technology—designing, manufacturing, and servicing the tools that make energy production safer and more efficient.

And right here in St. Mary Parish—the birthplace of Deepwater drilling—Cameron continues to play a vital role in the energy landscape, blending cutting-edge innovation with local impact.

Here's to 100 years of excellence and a future filled with bold solutions. We’re proud to have you rooted right here in our community.

This evening, my husband and I had the honor of attending a beautiful dedication at the Wedell-Williams Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Museum in memory of the incredible Mr. Lee Felterman; a man whose legacy soars as high as the planes he enjoyed.

As a member of the museum’s Board of Directors, it was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful moment, surrounded by stories, history, and the people who keep it alive.

Honoring Mr. Felterman’s impact reminded us all how important it is to preserve and celebrate the spirit of our community.

Proud to say that St. Mary was represented well at this morning’s LED Bayou Region Planning Workshop!

▪️Dr. Fegenbush, St. Mary Parish Superintendent
▪️Evan Boudreaux, St. Mary Parish Economic Development Director
▪️Cindy Cutrera, Port of Morgan City
▪️Bart Folse, COO of Bayou Bend Health System
▪️Roger Beaudean, Marquis Management Group and Executive Director of Atchafalaya Intraccoastal Coalition

As well as regional representatives Lisa Kliebert, Lacey Crochet, Christy Zeringue from SLEC, among others from Assumption, Thibodaux, Houma and Lafourche.

It was great to see the region come together to discuss our strengths and weaknesses to help give LED more direction while they work on their 2025 Strategic Planning!

I didn’t take a photo while there so here’s a car selfie once I got back to the office.

Happy Tuesday!
