The SLO Eater

The SLO Eater Tasting, photographing, and reviewing eats and drinks around SLO county, trying to keep it affordable and always looking for a vegetarian option.

We started The SLO Eater simply as a fun side project. We like to go out to eat and take photos of our food and we're always looking for a bargain, as we're on a budget. We hope we can help others who are watching their dollars find some spots where you can get the most bang for your buck here on the beautiful Central Coast of California. Please enjoy our photos and posts, and we appreciate you st

Shine Cafe in Morro Bay is open for take out and they have a few tables out front on the sidewalk where you can you can sit and enjoy your food. Pictured is their “Famous Tempeh Taco” that comes with seasoned tempeh, spring mix, fresh veggies, avocado, and sesame seeds, served on a soft wheat and corn blend tortilla, topped with their amazing creamy cilantro dressing and salsa. Also pictured is an açaí bowl (acai, mango, banana, spinach, blueberries, almond milk, vanilla bean, maple syrup) topped with h**p granola, coconut, goji berries, and strawberries. What a great place to go when you’re craving something healthy. Off their menu: “Fresh, vegan cuisine featuring local and organic ingredients; with gluten and soy free options available.” Sunshine Health Foods

We were first introduced to by Beach Hut Deli (NW Reno). We were so happy when one opened here in our town. Sandwiches from this shop are always tasty and filling. Even though it's a little pricey, the ingredients are fresh, and the sandos are so big we have leftovers for dinner! We got the California and the Beach Comber, and of course, Cheetos. Thanks, Beach Hut Deli!

Hey cool. A sandwich shop is coming to downtown SLO where Splash used to be. Can’t wait to try it.

We just love Schooners in Cayucos! Whenever we want to treat ourselves to something a little special we take the lovely scenic drive up the coast to this charming surfside restaurant. Our favorites are the tuna melt and the fish and chips. Their fries are also delicious as is their infamous Bloody Mary. Seriously, this is probably the best tuna melt we’ve ever had. Thanks again Schooner’s for another fantastic lunch.

This is awesome! Thank you SLO Brew!
