With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Brent McKay, a dear friend and father.

If you knew Brent, you probably have a story that makes you laugh just thinking about it. That was his gift: sharp wit, perfect timing, and a smile that let him get away with just about anything. And his tremendous love for his family and friends was legendary.

He wore many hats throughout his life: he was an award-winning radio DJ, a business owner, a marketer, a talented woodworker, and a master prankster. But the role he wore most proudly was Dad to his 18-year-old son, Cash.

We know this news may be reaching some of you for the first time, and we wanted to make sure all who loved Brent had the chance to come together, share stories, and honor his life.

Something special is taking shape here at Hallie Hill. Our Path for Paws walkway continues to grow brick by brick, each one representing a story, a memory, or a lasting connection to the animals who call the sanctuary home. 🌳

Whether honoring a beloved pet, celebrating someone meaningful, or simply showing support for Hallie Hill’s mission, each engraved brick becomes part of a pathway filled with compassion, remembrance, and hope.

We love seeing this project come together and watching our community leave such heartfelt marks throughout the sanctuary grounds. Every brick helps support the daily care, comfort, and second chances we provide to more than 200 animals. 🐶🐱
