Matt Welch Motorsports Started in 2012 in a 4 cylinder hobby division, moved to modifieds in 2016 , now 2019 the move to late models. When it's no longer fun, it's time for a change.

We have no sponsors and do it out of our pockets as a hobby and for fun.

Kinda got the itch... maybe I'll start working on it again and get some testing in.

Not the night I was hoping for but, still had fun livin' the dream. Start with the positive...

Car isn't overheating anymore thanks to the new radiator from Ron Eiford.

Throttle linkage issue had me at only half throttle for the heat race. We were scrambling around trying to get a quick fix for the feature and ran out of time. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes. Thanks to Chris Brink for all the help in the pits and spotting tonight. He actually figured out the linkage problem.

Back to the positive. The car is in one piece, still runs, drives, and stops so we still have something to work with. Also since the engine hasn't run to its fullest I can only think it's getting a proper break in lol

Thank you to all my family and friends that came out tonight and support the insanity. It's great to hear cheers when they announce your name and car number. The car will be better and hopefully racey the next outing, so maybe I can finally help put on a show.

Personal reasons and work schedule will keep us away for at least the next 2 weeks so should be plenty of time to get new throttle linkage figured out. Still determined to actually "race" a late model.

Oh and yes I'll admit it, most of my problems are all do to this special exhaust I had to have. I think I know why it isn't so popular now. I'm determined to make it work because in the end it will be worth all the aggravation.

“The $10,000 to win, $800 to start prize money is a big draw in the crate late model community” said Jennerstown Speedway Complex General Manager Billy Hribar. “But to make the deal even better for drivers, 2019 will have an added bonus for a segment win”. The driver who is leading at the en...

38 years old. Probably 30 years I wanted to be a race car drive at an elite level. Well... my name isn't Earnhardt or Petty, my dad isn't John Menard. A lot of people around me think I'm nuts for building a car for one specific race "the Masters" at Jennerstown Speedway. We are about one week out from getting as close to my childhood dream as I possibly can on my budget. My emotions are all over the place, highs and lows. My expectations are high, goals are even higher. Some things I can control, some not... that's the chance I'm willing to take. Next weekend I will attempt to make a 30 car field with 54 cars registered. I think this is the show I've been waiting my entire life for. I wish the best of luck to every team that shows up. Check out Jennerstown.org or "Jennerstown Speedway Complex LLC" page for all the info on next weekend's event. If you do not have any plans, you do now... attend Jennerstown Speedway next Saturday and support local short track races and probably a neighbor that drives or is a crew member.

•Thanks mom and dad for the help with parts, labor, and a home for it.
•Thanks Alexis for not divorcing me through all of this.
•Thanks Ron for primer, decals, and all the other help
•Thanks Hubert for the paint
•Thanks to the unnamed late model and super cup teams that have helped with questions, info, or parts.

•Also THANKS to the tech support at Lefthander Chassis and Winters Performance both these companies have gone above and beyond when questioning their products.

Make the show or not we are racing next weekend regardless as they added a non-qualifier race.

Mark your calendar's. Car will be at Jennerstown Speedway Friday August 9th for practice and we'll see if it's fast enough to make the show Saturday August 10th. Obviously the goal as with every other racer attending is to win that $10k but, if we bring it home in one piece at the end of the night we'll go home with knowledge to make it better for the next outing.
