A lead that comes in Tuesday morning while everybody is watching the inbox isn’t much of a test.
I want to know what happens Thursday at 4:42.
Someone called in sick, so now the truck is short a man. Phones are ringing. People are trying to get home to their families and, honestly, their minds are already moving there.
A prospect raised their hand.
Where the hell is reception? “Who’s handling this s**t?” is the theme song at that moment.
Because that’s when you find out whether your customer path actually works or whether it only works because everybody happens to be standing around watching it.
Did the right person get the information?
Do they know what the prospect already asked for?
Does the prospect know somebody has the ball?
Or is that raised hand sitting somewhere in an inbox while everybody assumes somebody else has it?
That’s why I put the Thursday 4:42 Test in the After the Click Field Guide.
It’s one of the ways I look at what happens after somebody responds, because getting attention is only the beginning. The business still has to receive that raised hand and carry it somewhere.
