Well… I didn’t plan for a spontaneous kitchen renovation this week. 😅 But here we are!
After discovering water backed up into our dishwasher, 2 plumbers later, we found out the entire drain pipe out of our apartment is broken. Since we’re on the ground floor, the only way to fix it is… jackhammering through the cement slab under our kitchen. Cue: packing up every cabinet, clearing the fridge, and preparing for the dust, noise, and shaking.
Thankfully, we’ll be temporarily displaced to a hotel very nearby—and it should be under a week. It shouldn't even impact our work schedules too much.
As I’ve been preparing, I’ve noticed my archetypes quietly shaping how I’m showing up through this:
💚 The Nurturer in me is focused on supporting my spouse first. I have the flexibility of being self employed and working remotely, so I’m putting my energy into making sure they feel settled—choosing the nearest hotel possible, preparing surprise familiar snacks, and gathering small comforts to help us stay grounded.
🎨 The Creative in me is seizing this unexpected change of scenery. I’m thinking about packing my watercolor palette or sewing machine—something that invites inspiration in the stillness between everything else.
✨ The Magician in me wants to turn disruption into transformation. What if this little forced pause clears space for the next idea to land? What if I bring something back from this unexpected detour that I didn’t know I needed? Seeing this disruption as not just chaos, but potential.
Displacement isn’t fun—but we’re finding the silver threads in it.
And on that note... I'm looking forward to not having house chores for a week. 😂
To anyone else juggling curveballs this week—you’re not alone.
Sometimes the mess clears space for magic.
(The picture? That's my entire kitchen in storage bins. I've never been so grateful for a small kitchen!)
