First, demand access to everything. Every login, every account, every platform your marketing touches should have you listed as the owner. Not the agency.
Second, ask for documentation on every strategy. If they can't explain what they're doing in plain language, they either don't know or they don't want you to know. Both are problems.
Third, make sure you're being taught, not just serviced. The right agency builds your internal understanding as they build your strategy. When the engagement ends, you should know more than when you started.
