If you’ve been inactive or inconsistent on Instagram for a long time and you start posting again… you’re probably going to lose followers at first.

I know. It sucks. I’m living it right now (hi, 7-year consistency gap on my personal account when I was previously getting monthly influencer deals in collage👋). I stopped posting after I started my digital marketing business. Business is great! Full client roster! but now that I’m treating myself like a client (which I should have been doing all along) Its... definitely a hit to the ego. if you’re going through this, you’re not alone:

But here’s the truth I’m going to gently hold your hand through:
This is normal.

Your niche may have evolved.

People who followed you years ago may not remember you.

Some accounts are ghost followers who were never engaging anyway.

When you pop back up some people unfollow and that’s okay.

If you’re gaining followers AND losing followers, you’re still gaining.

You’re rebuilding. Reconfiguring. Cleaning house.

Unless you want to start a brand-new account (which I didn’t), this is just part of the process. The only way out is through.

Post through it.

Power through it.

Let the dead weight go... better engagement lives on the other side.

✨ Pro tip: If it’s been a while, re-introduce yourself. There’s literally an “allow me to reintroduce myself” trend happening right now!! Perfect timing.

Part of my 2026 goals was to kick my business website into gear and diversify my income streams. I finally redid my UGC portfolio and emailed 5 brands this week 🎯 One thing I changed this time? Social media works best when it’s not treated like an island.

In 2026, I’m approaching content as a connected ecosystem... where social platforms, long-form content, websites, email lists, and digital touchpoints all work together with clarity and intention.

Social media is powerful, yes.
But it’s still one piece of a larger marketing strategy.

The goal isn’t just posting... it’s:
• clear messaging
• consistent direction
• multiple parts of the sales funnel working for you
• and content that actually leads somewhere

That’s why this year I’m encouraging businesses to take social a step further: exploring long-form content, newsletters, digital products, and owned platforms like email lists. These are the pieces that create sustainability, depth, and long-term growth beyond the algorithm.

And this may be an unpopular opinion, but I consider all of my clients friends.

I root for them. I feel like part of their team. I genuinely care about their businesses, which means I get to know them better, understand how to showcase them online, and stay open to their ideas. I believe the best work happens when there’s trust, collaboration, and real human connection.

If you’re a client of mine, you’re not “just a client.”

You’re part of my circle, and I’m rooting for your business as if it were my own.

This is slower. Smarter. More connected.

And let me tell you, it’s a lot more enjoyable.

Part of my New Year goals was building better systems so I could have better work–life balance ✨

And while I still work most days (yes, weekends too), something new this year is Mondays = admin days (especially the first Monday of the month).

I try to keep Mondays super light on editing + posting and instead focus on behind-the-scenes work...misc projects, websites, blog posts, strategy, or in today’s case, a competitor analysis 🤓

One thing I’ve been loving is working with a Pomodoro timer. It makes the day feel way less daunting and breaks everything up so much easier. I also get way less distracted by house stuff because I save things like laundry and lunch for my Pomo breaks.

If you get distracted easily, I highly recommend trying it out.

This Monday ended up being a short one, which felt amazing because it was warm and we had time to go to the park before it got dark.

Also... OBSESSED with my new merch that made for me 🖤

It’s gonna be a good year. I can feel it!!!
