Yesterday I went to a club where I noticed a bunch of 18-year-olds gathered around a screen. At first I thought they were doing co***ne.

Turns out it was something even worse.

The crowd was in charge of the music.

Everyone could add their own songs to the Spotify queue, and honestly… it was complete chaos. The transitions were awful, the song choices made no sense together, and every 30 seconds the vibe completely changed.

But somehow… people seemed to love it?

So now I’m curious - brilliant idea or terrible idea?

After over 10 years in music... I finally realized this:

You've probably heard it all. "Maybe music isn't for you." "You're not good enough." "You should've made it by now."

But those people are measuring the wrong thing.

Look at a lot of musicians who "made it," the ones with millions of streams, sold-out shows, record deals. A lot of them are burnt out and struggling with their mental health.

They became products of their labels, making what sells instead of what matters to them. Their relationships suffer because they're always on the road, always chasing the next milestone. And even when they get there, it's never enough.

Now look at yourself.

Maybe you chose to be present for your family instead of grinding at the studio every night.

Maybe you kept your friendships and showed up for the people who matter.

Maybe you chose your mental health over the pressure of making music pay your rent.

Maybe you chose stability so you could keep making music without it destroying you.

Ten years of making music on your own terms, without burning yourself out or sacrificing the people you love for it, that's its own kind of commitment.

Success in music is mostly about what you're willing to sacrifice. And choosing not to sacrifice everything is still a decision. It says more about your values than your stream count ever will.

I have been playing a different game the whole time. And that's something most people won't understand until much later.

And I'm okay with not becoming who I thought I’d be at 12. I’m happier now.

If this resonates, follow me and tell me in the comments what you've chosen to protect 👐🏻

This is where we're at in 2026. AI music is everywhere, and it's getting harder to know what's real anymore.

So here's what I'm doing about it: I'm being more intentional about who I support. I'm looking for real artists. Real people making real music 💘

Are you one of those rare musicians who don't use prompts to write song?

Have you ever noticed a sudden spike in your streams coming from a fake playlist? Here’s why that might be happening:

There are essential things every musician needs to know about playlists, ads, social media, Spotify, and making money.

Most musicians learn these lessons the expensive way. Here's what I wish I knew earlier:

[But first, save this post and comment '100' to download my FREE 100-page music marketing guide]

SPOTIFY: It Won't Happen From Scratch - The more past data Spotify has, the more impactful your release. You need to slowly build your audience so when you release, algorithms actually trigger.

PLAYLISTS: Wrong Curators - You'll submit your chill acoustic song to high-energy workout playlists. Wrong genre = instant rejection. Actually listen to the playlist first.

PLAYLISTS: Timing - Submitting on release day is too late. Some curators need 7+ days to review. Submit 2-3 weeks before your release.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Post Enough - You'll think posting 5 times is plenty for your release. You actually need 15+ posts. Sometimes a simple lip-sync in your car blows up - you never know which one hits.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Your Brand - Getting inspired by other viral videos is smart - but make it yours. Are you happy? Dark? Vulnerable? Stick to YOUR brand or you'll confuse your audience.

ADS: Meta Wants You to Fail - Advantage settings, traffic campaigns, boosting posts - all might not work for your release. Use conversion campaigns in Ads Manager with manual targeting instead.

ADS: Tier 3 Countries - You'll be tempted to target cheap countries (5x less per click). Those listeners won't become real fans. Target your actual audience even if it costs more.

ADS: Strategy Beats Budget - Spending $1,000 wrong gets worse results than spending $100 right. Learn the system before throwing money at ads.

EDITORIAL PLAYLISTS: Potential Over Quality - A good song isn't enough for Spotify editors. They want artists with potential: live shows, social media presence, growing Spotify numbers.

MONETIZATION: 1M Streams Isn't Enough - Even with 1 million streams, you're not making a living. That's $2,000-3,000. You need multiple income streams.
