Happy New Year from Granite Hill Media. After waking up at 5:55am (I always set my alarm to that time for good luck) and wondering how much of the planet is hungover today, I thanked God for having me here another day, got dressed, slammed a glass of warm lemon water and headed to the gym for a leg workout. The gym was empty which was inspiring to me because it’s a reminder that I’m with a special breed this morning putting in the work and doing their best to stay consistent, disciplined and motivated. I went to bed early, I am grateful to be here, to be putting in the work and grateful for the struggle when it comes down to it. Afterwards, I checked my emails, followed up with some work to dos and I am now writing this as the balance between work and personal life has never been an easy balance for me but with that said…
Business and service has had a greater impact upon me now, more than ever because helping people is healing, helping clients is meaningful, therapeutic, rewarding, being a buttress in their Cathedral and a part of their team is an honor, it’s spiritual. And, if I can be honest, sometimes a great distraction from the pain.
At the same point, when a client and friend of mine (who’s built his business into a multi-million dollar business that employs part of a city) once said, “when I turned off the clock in my business I let the expectations go and the work flows.” I never forgot that.
Running Granite Hill Media is a true blessing because now more than ever companies, businesses and people need help finding direction, creating content, building a brand, logo and website design, sharing what they are doing, their accomplishments, experience, strengths and hope. Most importantly it comes down to- telling their story with meaning and focus.
Leaving the TV industry of LA and moving to Tennessee to start a business was a big move for me. I moved away from familiarity and friends (but I have experience with that leaving Maine as a teenager where I am originally from and then San Francisco once again after completing my University Degree) to a new market and small town where most of the people here, were born and raised. But having that outside perspective has always allowed me to serve people better as well because I have an out of the box viewpoint that gives me the advantage to help clients see the cracks, flaws and incredible points to work on focus in on and to talk about.
What Granite Hill Media continues to provide in 2026 is a solid foundation to our clients founded in quality, passion and simplicity. As Pablo Picasso said “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” I believe in what he said. The media and storytelling game needs more of that- a childlike passionate drive with open eyes and a love to create. And within that as well, to be a force of wonder, inspiration and relatability to bring consumers, businesses and brands together in common bond.
Happy New Year.
