One day. What if that was all you needed?
In the beginning, I was spending months on what should've been a simple logo, color palette, and typography. It took forever to finish and I was miserable.
The problems I encountered:
- No contract - everything was by email
- No managed expectations - the client practically drew the logo for me
- No boundaries - I was working nights and weekends to get something done to make up for lost time
- Stressful payment terms - I didn't get paid until the project was finished
Did I call it quits? Luckily, no. One thing I realized early on was that if I was going to be a service-based business owner, things like this would fall on me. This was MY responsibility and I had to fix it.
So, since then, I wrote down the stressful points of a project and other mistakes I made and fixed them for the next project until I got into a groove I was happy with.
Today, I have a smooth workflow that keeps me working ideal hours and my clients are thrilled. At the end of the day, it’s about the client’s experience and how easy you made it for them to work with you.
