THIS IS SOUTHERN INDIANA | In our latest Something to Say, Angie Fenton shares a story that has stayed with her since the end of the last school year.

It’s about Kenny Kronauer and Caden Hines, the people at Fairmont Elementary who wrapped their arms around them during an incredibly difficult season, and the lasting impact educators and school staff can have far beyond the classroom.

As another school year gets underway, it’s a powerful reminder that sometimes the most important thing a school can give a child is the feeling that they are safe, seen, supported, and that they belong.

Watch the latest Something to Say — and if you have something to say and want to share it on WLKY’s This Is Southern Indiana, email [email protected] and let us know what’s on your mind. We’ll reach out about filming with you.

THIS IS SOUTHERN INDIANA | There’s just one show left in the 2026 North of Nashville Songwriter Sessions season, and it’s a good one.

On Saturday, September 12, Thom Shepherd, Coley McCabe, and Brady Seals take the stage at Covered Bridge Golf Club in Sellersburg for an intimate Nashville-style songwriter round featuring the songs, the stories behind them, and the people who wrote them.

Shepherd is the writer behind No. 1 country hits including “Redneck Yacht Club” and “Riding with Private Malone.” Seals, a former member of Little Texas, co-wrote hits including “God Blessed Texas,” “What Might Have Been,” and “My Love.” McCabe is an accomplished singer-songwriter who co-wrote SHeDAISY’s hit “Lucky 4 U.”

The final show of the season is Saturday, September 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Covered Bridge Golf Club, 12510 Covered Bridge Road in Sellersburg.
