Hawaii is hurting. Last week, the islands faced the worst flooding in 20 years โ a second Kona low storm that unleashed over 12 inches of rain, triggered mass evacuations, and stranded hundreds in rising waters .
More than 230 people were rescued, including 50 residents airlifted by the Hawaii National Guard from flood-ravaged North Shore communities. Over 5,500 residents were ordered to evacuate.
But it's not just people who need help.
Animal rescues across the islands are overwhelmed. Shelters are flooded. Foster networks are strained. And the organizations that care for Hawaii's most vulnerable animals are struggling to recover.
