Anna Tamke, a writer for , candidly reflects on her journey into the world of public relations and highlights a significant disparity between what she learned in college and the practical demands of the field. According to Tamke, her college education left her ill-prepared for the rigors of PR, as it lacked essential elements such as pitching expertise, proficiency in media relations software like Cision and Muck Rack, and the prerequisite 1-2 years of on-the-job experience. These crucial tools and skills, she argues, are often conspicuously absent from traditional classroom settings.

Furthermore, Tamke asserts that the field of PR has evolved considerably since the textbooks used in college were published, most of which date back to before the year 2000. She contends that this outdated curriculum perpetuates an inaccurate image of PR as primarily crisis management, calling on colleges and universities to revamp their programs to better equip students for the modern realities of the profession.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has launched ToGetThere, the nonprofit’s first new campaign in over 30 years, urging Americans to take action against impaired driving this holiday season.

The campaign features a PSA showcasing real families impacted by impaired driving, digital ads, B-roll and a pledge ToGetThere safely, which people can take by visiting MADD’s website and sharing on social media channels to signal that they are available to help others get home safely.

The timing of the campaign, in tune with the holiday season, also aligns with Impaired Driving Prevention Month in December.

“This is an opportunity to bring the message of how much impaired driving still impacts us, how much it impacts people's lives and also just reminding people what MADD is doing to address the issue as well and getting them involved,” MADD CEO Stacey Stewart said.

Regrettably, a number of our dedicated team members at Fifteen East Media Group have experienced firsthand the devastating consequences of a reckless drunk driver. We wholeheartedly commend the proactive measures undertaken by MADD, along with their strategic collaborations with non-profit organizations, to raise crucial awareness regarding the perils of impaired driving and its far-reaching ramifications.

Listen.

When a potential client mentions a lower quote from another agency, this is your opportunity to showcase your value proposition!

Here's our approach:

1️⃣ Quality Matters: Highlight the value, expertise, and quality you bring to the table.

2️⃣ Transparent Pricing: Explain your pricing structure, ensuring clarity and no hidden costs.

3️⃣ Tailored Solutions: Emphasize how your services are tailored to meet their unique needs.

In the end, it's not just about the price tag; it's about the value you deliver and the relationship you develop with your client.

Choose wisely!

Marketers are increasingly seeking project-based and specialized PR support, driven by attempts to make inroads with the coveted Gen Z demographic and changing priorities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

: Creative and media pitches rose 11% globally in 2022, but they brought in 35% less revenue compared to the prior year, according to industry reporting.

Consumer-focused agencies aren’t the only ones noticing a shift away from an all-encompassing model. Margery Kraus, founder and executive chairman of APCO Worldwide, says clients are looking for specialized support, sometimes enlisting numerous agencies for it.

“When you have an AOR, you have a tendency to define things in terms of outputs, [such as] putting out 10 press releases a week,” she says. “I think that’s less significant now. The smarter companies are saying, ‘Okay, how’s this going to affect our bottom line? How can we think about KPIs more substantively, as opposed to the numerics?’”

When’s the last time you checked in with your entrepreneur friends?

Actress and rapper Megan Thee Stallion is doing her part to eradicate the phrases she’s often heard during her upbringing “I gotta be strong, thick-skinned, stiff-upper lip, tough as nails.”

The ‘Houston Hottie’ partnered with the Ad Council and mental health organizations encompassing the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention and The Jed Foundation with a powerful campaign letting her fans know that if they see a friend struggling, they should offer the person support.

The collaboration with Megan is the latest iteration of the Ad Council’s Seize the Awkward campaign which launched in 2018 and has featured stars such as Billie Eilish and Noah Cyrus.

“Reaching out and talking about mental health is not awkward, but there can be a feeling of awkwardness on how to approach it, how to find that moment where you can just really comfortably and naturally check in and say, ‘I’m kind of sensing that things might not be OK, I'm here for you, let's talk,’” said Heidi Arthur, the Ad Council’s chief campaign development officer.

As an entrepreneur, you are constantly under pressure to perform, meet deadlines and deliver results. And if you are not careful, it can affect your mental health. Here are a few things you can do to look after your mental:
