Recently, one of my clients booked me for a Design Day to make some tweaks and updates to her existing site.
For portfolio type websites, the images on your website can either make or break your site! We really focused on narrowing down her slideshow images in the hero section of her site in a way that showcases her very best work.
As creatives, we sometimes get emotionally attached and have a hard time deciding on what to include or not include on your website or portfolio. Getting help from an unbiased person can definitely help, but keep these questions in mind:
1. Who is my dream client and is this going to attract or repel?
2. Is it my dream to do more work just like this?

Modern and minimal. Architect Robert Mallet-Stevens designed this iconic home for brothers Jan and Joël Martel in Paris, 1927. The lines make my heart go pitter pat. When I am inspired by architecture, I fist notice the “lines” and it always makes me think of grid layouts. Probably just me, but it definitely gets my design wheels turning! 🤍

Contrast is important to pay attention to in design and the web. If your text or messaging is low contrast, your audience may not be able to visually see what you are trying to convey. If you create more contrast between the background imagery and your text, then you'll have better luck at getting your point across.
That being said, there is something very visually appealing to me with low contrast. The question may be, how critical is the message you're trying to get across?
Which one can you read more clearly, the low contrast or the high? Which one do you find more visually appealing, low or high?
