PETERMAYER

PETERMAYER A creative-led integrated marketing agency. We unleash brand joy, unlocking moments people crave. Simply put, culture matters.

At Peter Mayer we believe every brand possesses capital – financial, human, intellectual and, most important, cultural. Leveraging a brand’s cultural capital can create powerful and emotional connections that defy competition, price, and even convenience. Peter Mayer was born and grew from a place steeped in culture – New Orleans. Our connection to the culture of our hometown is the foundation of

our creativity and it defines the agency. So it is only natural that we see the enormous potential of culture as a way to create lasting relationships.

Most destinations tell you what to do when you get there. For the Petoskey Area, we built around something deeper: how you feel when you leave.

It’s the feeling of resetting your inner compass, no matter which direction it points. That truth now comes to life in a refreshed identity and a new campaign, “It’s Kinda Unreal.”

The Petoskey Area’s next chapter begins today.

CCO Dave Damman captured this shot at the Zulu parade last Tuesday. Here’s what he had to say about street photography:

“Vivian Maier, Gary Winogrand, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Gordon Parks, Diane Arbus—just some of history’s most celebrated and prolific street photographers. Capturing humanity in its most enduring and honest moments. Moments that are frozen for eternity, preserved for generations to come.

Cartier-Bresson called it the ‘decisive moment.’ The split-second, spontaneous intersection of action, emotion, and geometric composition—the perfect, unposed, and uncropped, instant to click the shutter. It is a “simultaneous recognition” of an event’s significance and its visual form.

Now with millions upon millions of images being captured by millions upon millions of cameras at any moment of the day, the ‘decisive moment’ has become that much rarer. There is no darkroom. There is no proof sheet to edit. Just an endless supply of iCloud storage.

I wonder how many undiscovered “decisive moments” sit in those data centers, lost forever.”

Our CEO Michelle Edelman was quoted in Age’s 2026 Marketing Predictions, calling out a high-stakes tension this year: AI skepticism vs. the power of real-life fandoms and communities.

As tech accelerates, the opportunity is clear: invest in what brings fans real joy, or pay the price of being seen as an outsider.

Thanks to AdAge and Lindsay Rittenhouse for the conversation. Here’s to building brands that feel human in 2026. ✨

As a New Orleans agency, we are always learning from the rich culture around us — and as the says, “the gumbo” of New Orleans is really the people and the culture.

Grateful for the chance to explore this amazing museum today and deepen our understanding of the traditions that shape this city and the rich history of the Mardi Gras Indians. And yes, every single one of these is made by hand! Talk about inspiring. ✨
