A historical marker was unveiled outside of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant on Orleans Avenue honors the restaurant's significance in the Civil Rights movement in New Orleans, La. Monday, May 3, 2021.

Getting this project to the finish line was a monumental team effort. Developing a meaningful and respectful way to honor those on the frontlines of the Civil Rights Movement in Louisiana pushed the creative team, led by the vision of Ernest M. English designed by Benjamin Clay, to new heights. In the end, the answer was right in front of them.
