"Make My Vote Count" Honored in Spark The Vote Challenge with "Honorable Mention" for Best Voting Video

Los Angeles, CA – "Make My Vote Count," a moving short film produced by The 431 Exchange, has been awarded an Honorable Mention in the "Best Voting Video" category of the Spark The Vote Challenge. Directed by emerging filmmaker Daryanna Barrett and narrated by her great aunt, Connie Payton, "Make My Vote Count" celebrates the struggles and sacrifices made by previous generations to secure the right to vote—a right that remains essential to democracy today.
Inspired by Connie Payton's personal story of her mother’s fight to overcome Jim Crow-era voting restrictions, the video highlights the powerful legacy of those who fought for equal voting rights in America. Released during a critical election cycle, "Make Your Vote Count" encourages viewers to honor that legacy by participating in the democratic process and exercising their right to vote.
“We’re incredibly honored to receive this recognition from the Spark The Vote Challenge,” said Jeff Geoffray, Executive Director of The 431 Exchange. “Connie’s story and her mother’s determination remind us of the resilience and courage it takes to protect voting rights. This award amplifies that message and encourages a new generation to stay engaged and informed.”
The Spark The Vote Challenge celebrates the best in social media and short film content promoting civic engagement, democracy, and social justice. To see the winning entries and other impactful short videos in categories like "Best Climate Video" and "Best Supreme Court Video," visit the Spark The Vote Challenge website.
