The Evolution of DJSmithyboy
Maison M. Smith aka “DJSmithyboy” has always been drawn to music, even as a baby. His ear for music coupled with his exposure to different mediums of music steered him toward the art of DJing. From a very young age, it became apparent that he was musically gifted, especially when he would dance right “on beat” at family gatherings and events. This natural rhythm blossomed in his toddler and pre-school music classes. At 5, he began taking formal piano lessons and continued for many years. Currently, he is learning to play the drums. Music has always been a part of his 11 years of life.
His path toward becoming a DJ began with him simply bringing different CD’s into his parents’ and other family members’ cars, trying to please and surprise them with his selections (essentially being a DJ). This then led to many conversations, history lessons and spontaneous “Shazam” sessions, where his parents would make him name the artist of songs on the radio. Most artists were WAY before his time but he still was able to recognize who they were and even ask questions to make musical connections. Even today, these car jams, musical conversations and lessons continue!
On Maison’s 8th Christmas, Santa brought him his first DJ set and software and WALLAH.. DJSmithyboy (self-named) was conceived! DJSmithyboy made his first guest DJ appearance at 9 years of age for an organization’s annual holiday gathering where he threw down on the wheels of steel and he hasn’t stopped since! DJSmithyboy spins for birthday parties, backyard family gatherings, baptisms and even impromptu basketball camp sessions for ALL types of people and ages.
Besides going to school, DJSmithboy keeps busy by playing football, basketball and lacrosse and of course playing FortNight. Specializing in Hip- Hop, R&B and Pop from now and the past, we know that you AND your kids will enjoy his musical selection! Let DJSmithyboy DJ your next party, event or gathering, we promise you WON’T leave the dance floor!
