We are greatly saddened by the passing of Marian Goodman, a champion of artists and a titan of the New York arts scene. Resnicow and Associates had the honor of working with Marian Goodman Gallery for many years, most recently with the opening of its Tribeca headquarters, and witnessed the vision of Marian and the gallery's partners up close.

Goodman founded her gallery in 1977, at a time when few women worked in the art world, and built an innovative transatlantic program that brought American and European artists into dialogue. Her legacy endures through the gallery’s partners, who worked with Marian for decades before being officially appointed in 2021, and through their ongoing advocacy for the gallery’s artists, who stand among the most innovative voices of our time.

Renowned for her work across genres, Warner has more than four decades of experience leading award-winning productions and artistic programs at major institutions, including The National Theatre DC, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the Ustinov Studio.

“I have always been inspired by the artistic potential of the Armory, the epitome of an unconventional space, where artists are prompted to think boldly, innovate, and work at scale.” — Deborah Warner.

“To call Yasunaga a ceramist challenges the very definition of the age-old medium. Known for avant-garde vessels that look magnificently barnacled and bio-eroded, the artist…often uses glaze as his primary substance, combining it with rocks, silver leaf, copper, and minerals.” — Jacoba Urist, W Magazine

Now open at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miamiporary Art, Miami, "Masaomi Yasunaga: Traces of Memory" is the artist's first major U.S. museum exhibition. Read more:

Yesterday’s season finale of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” underscored an important message—local public media is essential to communities nationwide.

The episode highlighted Public Media Company’s Public Media Bridge Fund, a strategic philanthropic initiative designed to guide the public media system through a moment of crisis to a more sustainable and impactful future. In support of this mission, "Last Week Tonight" is hosting a one-week auction benefiting local public media organizations across the country, with proceeds supporting the Public Media Bridge Fund’s efforts.

Gladstone Gallery now represents the estate of Robert Colescott, debuting his work at Art Basel Miami Beach this December and mounting its first exhibition for the artist next year.

Recognized as one of the 20th century’s most important American artists, Colescott is celebrated for his large-scale, satirical paintings that deliver biting commentaries on both American history and art history.

“Gladstone has never shied away from art that explores identity and politics, and Colescott represents the foundation of this for so many contemporary artists today.” —Max Falkenstein, Senior Partner, Gladstone Gallery

“Anish Kapoor: Early Works” at The Jewish Museum is the first American museum exhibition to focus solely on the trailblazing artist’s formative early work. Displaying Kapoor's pigment sculptures in richly hued and evocative groupings, along with select examples of his more recent sculptures created with Vantablack, the exhibition showcases the artist's masterful play with perception, drawing on the psychic effects of color—and its absence—as well as the allure of objects that appear to defy their own material nature.

“When I first started making pigment works, I didn’t have any money... I would often sweep the floor and use the dust off the floor. It’s just what I had to do. So there was this sense for me, anyway, of the frugal nature of the project.” — Anish Kapoor

Jeffrey Gibson’s “The Animal That Therefore I Am” takes over The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s façade with four massive animal sculptures. The sixth contemporary artist to be invited to take over the Fifth Avenue façade, this is Gibson’s first monumental effort in bronze. The artist was inspired after studying the Met’s collection and learning about how many cultures reference animals as sacred or even as teachers.

“I think there’s an Indigenous kinship in these worldviews that encourages us to respect animals and to see ourselves not as stewards over them, but as peers.”

Gibson’s bronze sculptures will be on view at the MET through June 2026. Read more from Kelly Crow:

Jeffrey Gibson, who is part Choctaw and Cherokee, pays homage to animals found near his upstate home as well as Manhattan’s Central Park.
