When you run restaurants in a smaller city like Charleston, staying in the national conversations requires a bit more hustle.

In last week’s Short Order, we spoke to Brooks Reitz—owner of Leon’s Oyster Shop, Melfi’s and Little Jack’s Tavern—about how he seems to never not be traveling, Substacking, and podcasting, because that’s what the job requires.

The iconic returns. 🥩

Inside Austin’s most storied dining room, reopens the doors today with chef at the helm, marking her official Southern restaurant debut.

The menu brings together Bloomfield’s seasonal, whole-animal approach with a distinctly Texan steakhouse format—think dry-aged beef, chilled martinis, and old-school steakhouse glamour, reimagined.

A revival of Austin’s original grand steakhouse, now officially back in full swing. Reservations available on .

Opera, art, and Mexican cuisine… one night only.

In collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera, Cosme hosted a four-course dinner celebrating Gabriela Lena Frank’s El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego, which premieres tonight at Lincoln Center, until June 5th. Inspired by the spirit of Coyoacán, the evening unfolded in four acts with fried lobster quesadillas, truffle esquites, and mole with duck — said to be one of Frida Kahlo’s favorites.

Chef Enrique Olvera joined the Cosme team in the kitchen for the restaurant’s first collaboration with the Met, alongside an intimate performance by Grammy Award-winning opera star Isabel Leonard, who portrays Frida in the production.

A taste of the evening will continue at Cosme, with the truffle esquites from the first course available exclusively at the bar from May 18-29.
