The smartest PR move right now isn’t an ad. It’s an object.

KitKat Panama turned its wrapper into a working Faraday cage — put your phone inside and calls, data, Bluetooth and GPS all die. «Have a break» stopped being a slogan and became a device.

KFC UK built a transparent puffer filled with real gherkins and brine, with a straw so you can drink it. One unit. Given away on social.

Both got more press than most campaigns with a real media budget.

They’re not alone:

→ The Devil Wears Prada 2 shipped a handbag-shaped popcorn bucket. It sold out at AMC, Regal and Cinemark, then resold above $200.
→ Supreme put out a steel casket with leopard lining, next to a toaster and a 20-foot boxing ring.
→ De’Longhi had a master model-maker turn five coffee machines into miniature cafés from Milan, Tokyo, Paris, Copenhagen and Berlin.

Here’s why the object beats the spot: it’s buyable, photographable, reviewable, and sendable to one specific friend who needs to see it. A banner does none of that.

The catch — and it’s a big one: without an idea underneath, it’s merch with a logo on it. And the bar is rising fast. Once every brand can ship a novelty, novelty stops being the story.

Kumar: 35M views, then the reveal that it was paid all along.

Everyone’s arguing about the ethics. I’d rather look at the mechanics — because the mechanics are free.

Friction. A character. A named enemy. An arc.

Why every brand suddenly shot dance this season 🩰

Nike, Skims, SYRN and CSB all made the same creative decision — and it wasn’t about choreography.

SYRN built a retro gym world for its Campus Crush collection around a dancer who performs in the lingerie instead of posing in it.

CSB’s In Session campaign used leotards, bold color blocking and an eighties Pilates world to turn activewear into a character.

NikeSkims placed Lisa among professional dancers for Spring ‘26, so the set reads as a performance system rather than another gym fit.

The shift isn’t dance. It’s brands wanting to feel human and alive.

How farm life became a luxury signal.

For years, "farmer-style" was the opposite of luxury. In 2026 it flipped — linen, sourdough, raw milk and muddy boots became the flex.
We broke down why the "simple life" is marketing's new aspirational aesthetic — from Nara Smith and Ballerina Farm to Jacquemus' "Le Paysan" at Versailles — and the catch: simplicity you have to be rich to afford.

So… is your brand selling the asset, or the aesthetic? 👇
