It’s that time of year again 🎄

Christmas has and always will be my favorite holiday, from the food to being able to shower my loved ones in gifts. It also opens up an amazing opportunity to support small businesses, and this year ESPECIALLY that should included women-owned small businesses ❤️

🎁 : Lindsey is truly just a gem to this community. She has an amazing store that features a plethora of bookish (officially licensed 😉) and seasonal merch too !

🎁 .bind : Devin is everything I want to be when I grow up. Her art is AMAZING and seeing her page grow has been the true gift of it all. She makes collectible special edition rebinds of your favorite books and series! She does offer commissions as well

🎁 We all know and love Annabell but her book marks are *chefs kiss* they are so so cute!! And so durable too

🎁 Your books deserve a special book sleeve to keep them safe (bc we all know we aren’t leaving our current read at home 😉). They also have some other really cute bookish accessories and bookmarks!

It has been brought to my attention by far too many bookstagrammers about the scamming and unlawfull business practices of

Thorugh my conversations with various users, i have learned that this company has done the following
- Charging Users for Items and Not Delivering Them, Namely Subscription Boxes
- The usage of fear tactics and threatning of legal action when anyone speaks up about it
- One user was subscribed to their box, being charged and did not recieve said boxs at all during their 7 month subscription period
- Users are being charged more than advertised as users are expected to pay international postage fees. Users are not informed of these fees prior to subscription (Under SB 478S, also known as the “Honest Pricing Law” or “Hidden Fees Statute”, prohibits businesses from advertising or listing a price that doesn’t include all required fees and charges. This includes fees for goods and services sold or leased for personal use, as well as resellers of goods and services.)
- Charging a 15% Fee for any refund or returning of items that are damanged on shipping
- Changing terms and conidtions in order to adhere to their unfair business practices while failing to inform current subscribers of t+c changes. Meaning these terms are not agreed to.

While I was not personally victamized by this company, I feel like it is important to use this platform as a way of not only uplifitng our love for reading, but protecting each other as well. I emplore each and every one of you to think twice before supporting Fabled Co. Please note that while they are threatning legal action to anyone speaking up against this, they have no grounds for legal action (confirmed via a lawyer that i have spoken with). Their attempts to fear monger are seen as intimidation tactics and is not permissible in the court of law. Consumers have the right to voice their opinions, and expierneces under Free Speach Laws and in many places, such as the US, consumer protection laws.

And if you are loooking for a bookish business to support - I suggest shopping small! , , and are some of my personal favorites.

When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill captivated me with its blend of feminist themes and speculative fantasy. Set in 1950s America, it tells the story of the Mass Dragoning of 1955, where thousands of ordinary women transform into dragons. The protagonist, Alex Green, navigates the aftermath, where silence and erasure surround these extraordinary events, particularly regarding her aunt’s transformation while her mother remains mysteriously unchanged.

I was drawn in by Barnhill’s exploration of female rage and the constraints society imposes on women. The metaphor of transformation felt empowering and eerily relevant, reflecting on what happens when women finally take up the space they deserve. The world-building is as fierce as the story’s feminist undertones, and I loved how Barnhill infused humor into such a subversive narrative. It’s not just a fantasy novel—it’s a bold commentary on liberation, memory, and reclaiming power.
