I recently read on a forum for restaurant owners about a dessert shop struggling to attract customers due to its obscure location. It reminded me of several restaurants and cocktail bars I know that are practically hidden, yet have reservations booked months in advance.
In today's digital age, the physical visibility of a restaurant doesn't hold as much weight as it did before the rise of social media.
Your restaurant needs to offer something compelling to incentivize guests to seek you out, even if you're located in a less prominent area.
Some restaurant owners believe that if people can see their establishment, perhaps with a banner displayed outside, it will motivate guests to visit. However, this notion isn't as effective anymore.
Nowadays, people are more deliberate about where they choose to spend their money. It's not about being lured in because they see your restaurant's sign. Your restaurant needs to offer something distinctive or provide a compelling reason for guests to make the effort to visit.
If you're just another eatery in the neighborhood serving pizza or spaghetti, why should they choose you over a more convenient option?
If you don't provide a unique experience, why would someone spend their hard-earned money at your establishment, risking a mediocre or even negative experience?
True visibility means that when people hear your restaurant's name, even if they've never been there, they can associate it with a signature dish or product you're known for.
And when you resonate with the right audience, those are the guests who will eagerly anticipate dining at your establishment and spending their money with you.
Do you agree?
