As reported by the BBC, five Iranian women footballers have been granted asylum by Australia for making a stand during an international tournament.

THIS is TATAMI. Their courage echoes the story at the heart of this multi-award-winning feature film.

Inspired by the very real pressures faced by Iranian athletes, TATAMI follows a female judoka at the World Championships who is ordered by her government to withdraw rather than face an Israeli opponent—forcing her to choose between obedience and everything she has worked for.

Directed by Guy Nattiv (Skin, Golda) and Zar Amir Ebrahimi (Holy Spider, Shayda), TATAMI (2023) is a gripping story of defiance, sacrifice, and strength.
