In the photo, our CEO Eugene Marchenkov is making his way back from the WN conference. There really was loads of useful information there.

A year ago, there was a feeling that soon we would completely switch to online conferences and that meeting offline would be a thing of the past. However, now we see that offline conferences are more relevant than ever. Why is that the case?

The main reason is information hunger. Today, the phrase "fast-moving market" has ceased to be a dry cliché - there are many events every month. We see the interest in content with our own eyes. On the first day of the conference, Eugene gave a talk on producing high-performing creatives, and the audience was packed. People want expert information.

Another trend that can be noted is a sharp decline in the NFT projects market. Many projects are ceasing to be profitable due to the depreciation of cryptocurrencies, despite that fact that this is a niche that many have been betting on recently. For the mobile games market, this may mean an active search for new ways of development, as well as scaling up current projects.

What remains unchanged is that at WN, you can meet old friends and make new acquaintances. The atmosphere was great. Let’s give a big thanks to the organizers!

GOAL

“Domination” is a strategy game. Three aspects that are important to focus on in order to attract the target audience of these kinds of games are the plot, atmosphere, and fine details. For this plot, we decided to build on the extraction of resources in different eras - this approach works well in the market.

SOLUTION

It was quite a complex and interesting project. Our designers were allocated many hours to complete their work, but the work began even before production - analyzing the approaches of competitors in order to spend our time wisely.

A set of tools including Element 3D, Cinema 4D, and AE was used to create the video. Using all these together was necessary to ease the process of working with various sources.

The last frame with a saw from the future was difficult. It took a long time to select and customize the saw itself, as well as change the location.

💻 IDEA

The inspiration for this creative came while analyzing the market - we looked at the best-performing videos and found certain patterns.

We decided to combine the mechanics of constructing obstacles, "fail", and combing lots of heroes into one ("merge").

💻 SOLUTION

This creative is part of a pack of 10. Of course, we always prefer to do the work both quickly and efficiently, but this isn’t so straightforward when the terms of reference are quite complex.

In this case, scripts came to the rescue. That is, this video includes not only animation, but also programming elements. Our designer created a script in which the attacking side goes up against obstacles, looks for a passage through, and also has some health.

We applied this script to several videos from the pack. The coolest thing that we managed to implement was that the attackers are generated in a random number, appear in random locations, and independently search for a way to the goal (to the defenders).

Thanks to this approach, we were able to meet the deadlines and budget of the project. The only thing left for the designers was to adapt the script to the required specifications for each video.

👀 Today is July 20 - International Chess Day!

Yesterday, the reigning chess world champion and grandmaster Magnus Carlsen announced that he won’t be participating in the upcoming World Chess Championship. His place will be taken by Ding Liren, who will go up against Ian Nepomniachtchi. The world of chess can sometimes be very unpredictable, having its own internal intrigues and political games. But overall, the game itself remains thoughtful and calm.

Advertising requires more drive and less ambivalence, so when producing creatives for a popular Chess app, we had to use our brains just like real chess players.

👀 SOLUTION

To address this problem, we first turned to the visual component - we conveyed the intensity of the struggle through the rapidly changing design of the "battlefield.” This not only looked great, but it also showed the possibilities of the gameplay. We also focused on the online mode and the ability to go up against real opponents.

Only those designers who understand the rules of the game participated in the creation of videos for this pack – plus an expert from our staff who plays professionally. This approach helped avoid factual errors in the videos. We’ve previously invited experts to consult for other projects as well, such as poker and cryptocurrency app.

👆 IDEA

The main thing with this creative was the presentation of the main characters. One obvious benefit of this approach is that it gives a lot of freedom to the designer. When a designer has the opportunity to be creative, we often end up with a more interesting product.

Our hypothesis was to hook the audience by showing the main characters and their key abilities. At the end, we encourage the audience to collect all the heroes - an appeal to the common desire to collect.

👆 IMPLEMENTATION

We combined 3D animation and a screencast. It starts with a 3D scene where we show a character and choose one of them. This might seem simple in appearance, but the details are important in order to hook the audience from the first few seconds. Here we figured out the background and the way the characters would be shown. Initially, they were shown standing in a circle, but then we decided that showing them standing in a line would look better, and the idea of the creative would be easier to get.

We also made a separate packshot for this creative. This is actually pretty unusual - typically the packshot is the same for the whole pack. Here we wanted to once again show the characters from the creative in a way that would make them more memorable.

The final touches consisted of working with fonts and UI elements, as well as speeding up the entire video by 20% to make it more dynamic.
