New work by Benjamin Vandiver out now in the fall issue of Galerie magazine. Writer Kathleen Hackett observes, “What happens when a designer with a granular approach to interiors takes on a client with big-picture thinking? If the three-bedroom apartment in New York’s West Village…is any indication, the answer is a warm, welcoming environment with grand gestures punctuated by intimate moments.”

Vandiver shares, “I saw my job as helping [my client] translate her big-picture thinking into the language of home, helping her to refine and even discover her personal taste along the way. And by the end, the space felt fully her. It doesn’t reflect just her style but also an expansion of it, maybe even a version of herself she hadn’t quite imagined yet.”

Writer Stephen Wallis] explains, “Drake and Anderson rounded out this space with playfully footed John Dickinson side tables, contemporary rattan chairs, and, behind one of the hammocks, a giant horse head sculpture made by Herbert Haseltine around 1930. ‘Aesthetically we were given some free rein based on knowing the clients and their tastes so well and them trusting us when we push them in new directions,’ says Drake.” See link in bio for the full feature. Located in the iconic in Dallas, this contemporary penthouse features a double-height great room with 30’ ceilings to accommodate the clients’ large scale art collection. The treasure chest that is Stockholm’s city hall. Renowned for its grand ceremonial halls, the building was designed by architect Carl Bergsten and completed in 1923. The first several images here are of the Golden Hall, its walls decorated with mosaics comprised of more than 18 million tiles and designed by the artist Einar Forseth.
