VIRTUAL LAUNCH OF CARIBBEAN HERITAGE MONTH IN MASSACHUSETTS SET FOR JUNE 3
Massachusetts /June 2, 2021/CMMInc…..June is Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM), and a slew of activities are happening across these United States. The Authentic Caribbean Foundation (ACF), will hold a virtual launch of National Caribbean American Heritage Month-Massachusetts on Thursday, June 3, at 4pm. The event will be streamed live on all ACF social media pages Authen Caribe (Facebook), as well as its Instagram Page, Authentic Foundation.
Since 2006, the month of June has been designated as National Caribbean American Heritage Month by Presidential Proclamation in recognition of the extraordinary contribution of Caribbean Americans to the American society.
State Senator Elizabeth Warren will bring greetings. Also bringing greetings are; Mayors Kim Driscoll- City of Salem and Dr. Yvonne Spicer, City of Framingham, two cities which boast strong Caribbean-American populations.
Mayor Driscoll is of Caribbean Heritage with roots in the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Numerous Council Members will be in attendance.
Dr. Claire Nelson, President of the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS), Washington, DC., will bring remarks.
Governor Charles D. Baker in issuing the proclamation for the 2021 observation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts commends Caribbean Migrants for their accomplishments and immense contribution to the state and their adopted home. He encourages them to “participate fittingly in its observance.”
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is home to more than 180,000 persons of Caribbean descent with large concentrations in cities such as Boston, Worcester, Brockton, Salem and Framingham.
Andrew Sharpe, Chairman of the Authentic Caribbean Foundation believes that the month-long celebration is a “feather in the cap of the Caribbean-American Community” and that “taking time to celebrate the rich culture of the Caribbean and acknowledging their presence and contribution is important.”
There will be a musical interlude featuring award winning Vocalist, Steel Pannist and Recording Artist, Becky Bass and a presentation by the Caribbean Diaspora of Massachusetts.
The launch will be hosted by Andrew Sharpe with Co-host, Ms. Lesley Ellis. Ms. Donna Frett will serve as moderator.

About The Authentic Caribbean Foundation
The Authentic Caribbean Foundation (ACF) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, based in Boston, geared towards transforming the lives of Caribbean children impacted by disabilities and HIV/AIDS and assisting caregivers and institutions.
The Authentic Caribbean Foundation was established in November 2012 and seeks to eliminate poverty through the development of community tourism and other self-sustaining opportunities in disability and HIV/Aids affected communities.
