For Black History Month, we have been celebrating Black innovators and thought leaders in the arts and marketing who have been challenging the status quo in their respected areas. And when we saw Kay Rufai's captivating photos of smiling Black boys in The Guardian and throughout London, we knew we needed to invite him and learn more about the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Project.

In response to the rise in knife crime in London, Kay created the S.M.I.L.E (Send Me Inspiring Loving Energy)-ing Boys Project, a research-led photography, poetry, and immersive art project that addresses the overall wellbeing of young Black boys between 13-25 through workshops, exhibitions, mentorship, and field study. Today, the Project empowers Black boys by providing tangible coping strategies to manage their mental health.

Let’s be Reel – short form videos are a powerful tool for connecting with consumers, and more recently, driving actual sales. The new Instagram Reels ads experience allows creators and businesses to share short form videos up to 30 seconds long.

We worked with our client Azadea and partnered with Facebook to find out how apparel brands prove impact by using this type of video ad content.

The campaign ran for two weeks, and the results are ‘reely’ promising:

+9.7% lift in Ad Recall
+2.4% lift in Top-of-Mind Awareness
+3.1% lift in Purchase Intent
