Happy Halloween!! πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ What are your Halloween plans?? I'm dressing up as a dinosaur, watching "Hocus Pocus" and giving out candy to kids for the first time! (the last place we rented was in the back of the apartment complex)

This is an animation I did for Halloween a couple years ago when I worked at – enjoyed practicing in After Effects.

I learned how to design on the computer through my high school newspaper and yearbook. "Bitten" is one of my favorite pages designed for the student entertainment paper. Initially, I didn't have any art for this front page concept. My friend Emily, who has since passed away, and I brainstormed and she was able to sketch out these teeth in charcoal. It blended perfectly with the "B" and vibe of the page. Over ten years later and I still love it. πŸ–€

When I got into college I thought I would never join newspaper. I ended up at UCLA's Daily Bruin. After I left there, I didn't think I'd work for a newspaper again, and lo and behold, I ended up working for a media agency that designed newspapers. The second photo is a newspaper design for a newspaper in Florida I made. Somehow I always kept coming back! I really cherish my time and the opportunities I've had to work at newspapers. It's amazing how much work goes into the production and information gathering.

The logo and icon were then applied to their business cards, note cards and letterhead. I also loved working on this with Sarah Burris who suggested creating the pattern out of the icon. One thing you don't see here are on the actual printed business cards: they wanted an element of surprise so they made the edges of the cards red ❀️ (2/3)

This is one of those projects that it was super interesting to go through the process – it started out bright colors and then went to classic and timeless. I loved creating the icon and the way V+G wrap together (swipe to see) ⚫βšͺ⚫βšͺ⚫ (1/3)

This time last week I was heading to Salt Lake City to board a red-eye flight for New York City. Feels like a dream ✨ I love that we took almost every mode of transportation while we were there – plane, subway, Lyft (does this count as a taxi experience?), biking, boat, sailboat, and walking. Lots and lots of walking. Also, a seaglass carousel – a must do! So magical, especially at night. $5 for 3.5 minutes of pure joy 🀩 @ New York, New York

Each Tuesday morning, BYU has a speaker come in to share a message. No one has classes during this time. I've recently started making a commitment to watch or attend in person each week. (I'm currently in the BYU MBA program with a focus in Marketing.)

This week, Kao Kalia Yang, an author, activist, and teacher spoke about her writings, her family, her history. When her family immigrated to America, her mother didn't know English very well. When looking for a lightbulb at a hardware store, she didn't know the word "lightbulb" so she said "I'm looking for the thing that makes the world shiny." And I thought, what a beautiful and simple statement. It really resonated with me, this search for light. Because, I think in a way, we're all looking for the things that make our world shiny, that bring light and hope in darkness. And although her world was dark at times, Kao has found a way to bring light to it through her writing.

And then it was fall πŸƒπŸ‚πŸ so excited to see the leaves change and ready for sweaters and scarves and hot chocolate and all the good things to come πŸ€— I’m also excited to share this video that was finally finished this last summer and filmed four falls ago! At the time I recorded I wasn’t super familiar with Adobe Premier and was determined to become better at video editing. It may have taken some time, but it was nice to look back on this and see how much has changed and also remained the same. I created three versions - the 1 minute (shown here), the 3 minute and the extended version πŸ™Œ If you haven’t noticed, I love these people and I’m so grateful for this moment in my life ❀️

From the mood board, variations and narrowing down later, the logo was created! I ended up creating two versions of the logo – a more simplified one and one with a couple more details. Creating this logo was unique because Lizzie has such a great creative eye and wanted to be more involved in the process πŸ’š
