🎉 Announcing a 2025 GOOD DESIGN® Award for DOC Branding

We are honored to share that our branding work for DOC has been awarded a 2025 GOOD DESIGN® Award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design and Urban Studies.

From the award letter:
“Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN® remains the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide.”

Visit the project on the winners gallery on GOOD DESIGN® and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

The project will also be published in the GOOD DESIGN® Yearbook for 2025-2026, and at the Museum exhibit at the The European Centre, Athens, Greece from March 20th 2026 to April 19th, 2026.

This adds to other recent recognition for our work with DOC from GDUSA Health & Wellness Awards, GDUSA Digital Design Awards, and the Graphis Design Annual Awards. The project was also featured in an article on GDUSA - link in bio.

About the project:
For the past couple of years, we have been collaborating with DOC to help build a brand that reflects their mission to shape the future of medicine—on both personal and societal levels.

DOC is a visionary group of doctors, journalists, investors, and thought leaders working at the intersection of healthcare, culture, and public discourse. It has been a privilege to help translate that ambition into a flexible, expressive brand system.

Find out more about the project on our site - link in bio.

We’re grateful to Jordan Shlain, MD, John Battelle, Kevin Ryan, Stacey Foreman and the rest of the DOC team for their trust and collaboration, and honored to see this work recognized among such an incredible group of projects.

In an ever-accelerating health landscape contaminated by pseudo-science, untruths, misrepresentations, and marketing schemes, a community of doctors, scientists, and industry leaders is catalyzing credible advances in medicine that matter right now. That community is called DOC.

For the past couple of years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with the DOC team to create a flexible identity system that carries that vision across mediums — from intimate, dialogue-driven gatherings to digital platforms and environments.

In our latest blog post, we share some of the project background and our collaborative approach — exploring new ideas, building trust, and designing for meaningful exchange.

| A recent therapy session reminded me of how critically important it is to prioritize and practice emotional well-being, and celebrate the remarkable professionals and practices that provide us with compassion, understanding, and the tools to needed to take care of ourselves, families, friends, colleagues, students, and so on. Even more often, I’m reminded how challenging it can be for us to take care of our mental health due to factors like stigma, lack of awareness, or resources.

With that I wanted to share some branding work for an important client of ours, The Opening, a non-traditional practice dedicated to innovative approaches to mental health care. I feel our work reflects their unique and compassionate approach — which aims to break down barriers and promote mental wellness — and hope it resonates with those who understand the importance of mental health.
  .  .

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Opening is a multidisciplinary practice promoting emotional fitness through psychiatry, psychology, music therapy, nutrition, yoga, art, and animal therapy. They aim to reduce mental illness stigma with empathetic, science-based treatment. Level was tasked with creating their brand strategy, visual identity, and print collateral.

Our strategy distinguishes The Opening with a logotype that blends science and creativity, suggesting ongoing change with forms that never “close” yet complete an image. The logo’s design reflects the practice’s integrative approach.

Print collateral, including business cards and letterhead, uses a flexible brand pattern to convey The Opening’s comprehensive, personalized care. Each piece reflects the practice’s adaptable and patient-focused services.
  .  .

The Opening visual identity was recognised with a Silver Award in the Graphis 2023 Design Annual Competition.

Most people think a logo is important because it gives a business, brand, or product credibility. Which is absolutely true. But they do so much more than that.

Logos are often your first impression. They touch every piece of marketing and promotion which makes them perhaps the most visible part of your business. They make your business easily recognizable and stand out from the competition. Which builds client loyalty. And trust. They say a lot about your values, industry, strategy, and position in the marketplace.

We've been creating logos for new, established, and emerging brands for over 25 years – from designing new logos to refining existing ones, from logotypes and wordmarks to icons and logomarks, to animated, generative, systems, and centennials.

👏👏👏 Proud to announce the identity for Superior Concrete has been recognized by Graphis in the 2023 Design Annual. The success of this logo is made possible through a great collaboration with Maxwell Snow, founder of Superior Concrete. We're excited for the work we have collaborated on thus far (brand strategy, visual identity, supergraphics, brochure, website) and even more excited for what's next for their brand.
