Happy Masters!

Golf is on in the office and I am happy. Trying to get some work done. Who else is distracted today?

Build a logo you can expand upon.

I took the original logo and broke it down to an outlined shape, and then expanded it create a repeatable pattern that we used on merch.

We called this the ‘infinity’ graphic.

In honor of Masters week, I’m showing off some branding work I did for Dimple & Divot, a golf accessories brand.

Love when concepts that have multiple messages come to life.

Branding for

I met Justin, Principal of a few years ago at our old co-working space. We then decided to become office mates at our space in Greenpoint.

Loved being able to help him with his branding. We wanted to make it minimal, modern and elevated to match his architectural aesthetic.

Ever wonder why designers can’t “make a logo real quick”?

Showing you all a little BTS today.

The final presentation is intentionally made to look effortless, but behind that final mark is tons of research, sketches, strategy and multiple design iterations.

Here is a glimpse of the initial concepts and rounds of iterations that we went through to get to the logomark that we landed on. I promise this is only a fraction of the work that we invested into this project.

A lesson (I hope) that is learned is that… “Good Design Takes Time.”

When you work with us on a branding project, we can also help with in-house photography.

We art directed, shot the photography & edited all the photos for this brand and we think they came out pretty damn good.

If you need help with product photography or art direction on a shoot, DM us and we can talk more!

3 reasons why you should include iconography in your branding system:

〰️ Optimizes your information when working in a limited amount of space. They don’t take up a lot of real estate.
〰️ Communicates information visually which can be helpful if you need to transcend languages
〰️ Helps the consumer quickly navigate the information. You don’t have to read through a lot of verbiage.

Swipe to the next slide to see how we chose to illustrate and educate the difference of White Branch’s supply chain process vs. big box stores using simple icons that align with the brand’s aesthetic.

Our theory is that you should be able to disconnect all the elements of your logo so you can utilize each for different assets. The goal is that they work as strong on their own as they do together.

Whether your logo is on a box or a small hang tag, it should be legible and OPTIMIZE the space available to communicate effectively to the consumer.

Do you see how we increased the size of the primary icon to fit the top of the box while communicating the brand name and the descriptor verbiage on the sides of the box? We chose to properly distribute the brand elements to the space that we had, which maximizes impact.

Or how we decided to encircle the icon with the brand name on the hang tag? (Swipe) This allowed us to be able to fit more specific verbiage selling the actual product itself. “Woven with 100% super soft and absorbent cotton” is a key selling differentiator for the brand.

In both of those examples, the elements of the logo respond to their platform and each will build brand recognition.

This is what we call having a Responsive Logo System. 🙌🏼

One of the most exciting and interesting elements of a brand identity are brand patterns.

They play an important role in creating strong brand recognition, bringing depth to the brand system, and creating a memorable brand experience. In fact, sometimes a brand pattern can be more recognizable than the logo itself. Think about Louis Vutton.

Also, can we say “brand” more in this caption? 🤪

Four tips for picking (or creating) a font for your logomark.

〰️ Understand the goal of the brand. What feelings do you want to convey?
〰️ Determine whether you want a serif or sans serif font.
〰️ Make sure the weight of your font pairs well with your icon.
〰️ Make sure your font is legible. There is nothing worse than having a font that is hard to read.

We chose this sans serif font for a few different reasons. We wanted to convey a clean, minimal & elevated feeling to match the brand’s aesthetic, so we chose a sans serif font. Also, the weight of the font (AKA this thickness of it) matches the branches that make up the house, so it feels cohesive and conceptual for White Branch, a luxe homegoods company.

We customized the logotype by angling the elements of the letters to mirror the angles of the lines in the icon.

This logomark I created for White Branch is one of my most favorite logos that I’ve ever made.

It was conceptualized for a D2C homegoods company, specializing in premium bath towels.

The reason why it is one of my favorites is because there are 3 different concepts/messages combined seamlessly into one mark.

Can you guess the 3 concepts below? 🧐
