A social media manager's guide to threads ➡️ In case you've been living under a rock lately, let me introduce you to Threads - Meta's latest sensation! It's a text-focused, conversation-based app that's gone viral. Similar to Twitter, Threads provides a platform where you can connect with others through text-based posts. I can already hear you thinking, 'Another social media app to conquer? Yikes!' Our jobs just got more complicated, right? BUT, don’t worry, because using Threads is a breeze, and the app is designed to be super user-friendly. Here are my three tips on using (or not using), this latest app

🔗 SECURE your handle: Whether you're planning to establish a strong presence or not, securing your handle is crucial. It protects your brand's identity, gives you the flexibility to change your mind in the future, and gives you a competitive edge. Trust me, the last thing you want is to change your mind a few months down the road and someone already secured your branded handle.

👉🏽 Have FUN: I know, social media and fun don't always go hand in hand, but Threads can change the game. Social media marketing isn’t my hobby, it’s my JOB and LIVELIHOOD ➡ As a content creator, social media marketer, or entrepreneur, it's not uncommon to be asked to work for free. I have received countless requests for free content creation, promotion, social media management, business advice, and marketing tips, from friends, business owners or even people I just met. While there are times when I offer my services without compensation, it is always based on my personal discretion, workload and the value that I place on the project or organization. You wouldn’t ask an accountant to do your taxes for free, or a realtor to sell your house for free? (Well, I certainly hope that you wouldn’t).
It's important to understand that professionals, whether they're content creators, social media marketers, or entrepreneurs, have invested time, money, and effort to develop their skills and services; As well as for most it is the way that they make their living. Instead, try to understand the value of the services being provided and offer fair compensation or seek alternative solutions if necessary. Building strong relationships and partnerships based on mutual respect and support is key to long-term success in ANY industry! 📷

Sigh. Do you ever have those writing days where you just can’t move past your writer's block? It’s the type of writer’s block that doesn’t leave - even when you take 3, 4, 5, or 11 breaks to step away and recenter. Quite frankly, it’s annoying and feels incredibly unproductive.

As a social media marketing professional, I know this feeling all too well. I’ve spent many afternoons working on content calendars, captions, blog posts, emails, and pitches that have taken way too long to complete just because my writer’s block was killing my “zone.” I’ve stepped away and even set aside work only to come back and find that my writer’s block has somehow gotten even worse. Like, how is that even possible! (?!?) Good news: this block doesn’t last forever. And sometimes, it is okay to ask for help. Especially as new business owners or aspiring social media marketing managers.

As social media professionals, our time is valuable - not only to our current or aspiring clients but to ourselves. Writer’s block - or even just the time you put into starting new writing, pitching, or email tasks - is time better spent on other things - like growing and expanding your business! So don’t be afraid to seek out help, or look for solutions to this problem.

TLDR: Your time is valuable. Let’s conquer it.
