To win in a world of video-first search, forward-thinking brands need to have a strong understanding of their target audience’s interests, then produce culturally relevant content that TikTok users can easily find by including 3-5 strategically selected hashtags.

An example is this short video of a dancing Joe Biden impersonator explaining current political news topics.

Videos such as this are making the 145-year-old newspaper a Gen Z favorite on TikTok.

A quick comparison of search results between Google and TikTok for “best NYC lasagna” provides an example of how TikTok’s short video format is inspiring and tantalizing, vs. the dry and almost academic results from Google.

The user generated TikTok content content delivers us a video of an amazingly delicious looking lasagna review from someone in NYC.

Which result would you rather have?

TikTok Takes The Lead over Google!
For the first time ever, in 2021 TikTok toppled Google as the most visited website on the Internet. With over 40% of Gen Z saying they prefer searching via the short videos of TikTok or Instagram vs. the ad based text lists of Google. WIth bite-sized, creator-led videos being more compelling to watch, is it a wonder there’s been a shift?

And that’s a wrap on Advertising Week! Thanks Advertising Week for including me as host in the boardroom of “Women in the Metaverse” panel. It was amazing to speak and connect with with panelists Caroline Fairchild, Editor-in-Chief of BFF, Francine Ballard, founder of Metagolden, Shira Lazar , the founder and CEO of the Emmy nominated digital media brand What's Trending , and Janet Balis working with EY

This panel was an extraordinary opportunity to bridge the gap by making space to be inclusive for women and non-binary people in the metaverse, an area that women are naturally adept. Best lesson - just jump in and start learning.

To all who attended! Until the next time friends…

During the Women in the Metaverse panel I hosted as part of Advertising Week , it was amazing to speak with panelist Caroline Fairchild , Editor-in-Chief of BFF.

Caroline illuminated how web 3.0 has the potential to accelerate progress by creating safe spaces for underrepresented people to feel seen and heard in this next movement of financial and technological abundance. Caroline spoke about how we're still so early in web 3.0's trajectory, and given how quickly everything is moving, it's a remarkable opportunity to bridge the gap by making the space inclusive for women and non-binary people.

Many thanks to Caroline for joining this panel of informative women.

Having Janet Balis on board our “Women in the Metaverse” panel as part of Advertising Week New York was an honor.

Working at EY , Janet sees the wealth creation that’s going to be coming in web 3.0 and has some compelling observations on how women can navigate issues of equity that we saw across the board in web 1.0 and web 2.0. Janet spoke about how women can unlock all the full potential within this creator economy by leaning into what’s fundamentally different about web 3.0 on all levels, including decentralized technology and decentralized structures.

Thanks so much to Janet for being a part of this captivating panel of women. Thanks to all who joined.

Yes, the metaverse will indeed be a game changer for women.

Extraordinary to see this article written by Caroline Fairchild Fairchild after our Advertising Week panel on “Women in the Metaverse.” Great job, Caroline.

Now to anyone who wants to explore the Metaverse, jump in, and start learning.

How do we change the narrative — and the numbers — that women are not built for Web3? It starts with education.

At our Advertising Week panel focused on Women in the Metaverse, it was wonderful to speak with Shira Lazar , the founder and CEO of the Emmy nominated digital media brand What's Trending

As someone who saw the second wave of the creator economy moving to Youtube and digital TV, Shira has an informative perspective on how the web 3.0 community can cultivate more equity and impact for creators. We share her excitement to see a world where the creators, the engineers, and the technologists work together to build a space of co-creation and collaboration.

Many thanks to Shira for joining our panel of amazing web 3.0 leaders during this panel. Inspiring!

It was great speaking with Francine Ballard during our “Women in the Metaverse” panel as part of Advertising Week . Wish it were longer, the conversations were illuminating.

As the founder of Metagolden, Francine provided some valuable insight on how retail will be reinvented in the dynamic web 3.0 space. We all enjoyed hearing about the transformational ways that consumers can connect to a brand in web 3.0 through their involvement as creators.

Abundant thanks for joining our panel with such an engaging group of women. Thanks to the packed room of attendees!
