“People love dirt in the South," says Andrea Nixon. "The first thing my dad would do if he could save up some pocket change was buy some land."

A partner in the structured finance group at Cadwalader, Nixon's career now centers on financing that land – to the tune of billion-dollar deals. With a sharp analytical perspective and a reputation as a closer, she represents banks in some of the most complex lending transactions in the market: https://www.lawdragon.com/lawyer-limelights/2026-05-19-the-closer-andrea-nixon-and-the-art-of-making-it-make-sense

After years of litigation, Boies Schiller Flexner and co-counsel recently secured a staggering $425.7M jury verdict in a privacy case against Google. But for partners James Lee and Mark Mao – litigators who have built their practices at the forefront of privacy, technology and complex class actions – their years of work on Rodriguez v. Google was not just about proving liability. In a landscape defined by evolving technology and layered disclosures, it tested whether foundational privacy principles still hold.

"At the end of the day, however complex the facts, it still comes down to a basic expectation of privacy – and whether it was violated," says Lee.

They discuss what was at stake in the case, as well as the philosophy and mechanics behind taking on a tech giant: https://www.lawdragon.com/news-features/2026-05-18-breaking-new-ground-with-the-oldest-law-on-the-books-bsf-takes-on-google-and-wins

James Lee and Mark Mao were the architects behind a privacy case that turned on whether Google had continued to collect user data even after users took steps to turn it off.
