Here’s 1 thing you can do right now as a business owner (Episode 2) to stop losing customers (without even realizing it).

You ever open a menu at a restaurant and there’s like 97 things on it and suddenly you can’t decide between a burger or a salad so you just get chicken tenders? That’s your website right now.

Your brain can only juggle about 4 things at once. A psychologist named John Sweller figured this out in 1988 and called it cognitive load. When there’s too much going on, your brain doesn’t work harder. It just leaves. That “I’ll come back later” thing people do on your site? That’s not indecision. That’s a dead battery. And they’re not coming back.

Think about your homepage right now. How many buttons are there? How many services are listed? Is there a popup? A chatbot? A banner? A “but wait there’s more”? Every single one of those is draining your visitor’s brain before they even get to the good stuff.

The fix is almost too simple. Fewer menu items. One clear button per page. Three service options max. More breathing room. Stop making people think so hard and start making it easy to say yes.

Sweller figured this out almost 40 years ago and most businesses still haven’t caught up.

Go look at your website or link-in-bio right now and count how many decisions someone has to make on the first screen. If it’s more than 3, you’re losing people and you don’t even know it.

Hey. This is your sign.

Update your profile pic. Invest in a branding photography session. Redo your website. Redesign your proposals. Set up a real Zoom background instead of that blurry thing you’ve been using since 2020.

People decide if they trust you in less than a second. Before they read your caption. Before they hear your pitch. Before they know how good you actually are. They’re judging the visuals. All of them.

Your Instagram feed. Your website. The PDF you send after a discovery call. The way you show up on camera. It all tells a story before you say a word. And if that story looks inconsistent, outdated, or thrown together, it doesn’t matter how great your service is. They already made up their mind.

You don’t need a new strategy. You might just need to look like the expert you already are.

This is your sign. Go do it.

It’s not their income that’s the problem.
It’s their numbers.
