As usual, The Business Council of Westchester event this past week was amazing. It was at the Larchmont Yacht Club, an incredibly beautiful location on the water.
Also as usual, Mike Dardano was taking photos. Last week he took a great photo of Peter Oberc taking a photo. This week I got the shot of Mike taking the photo.

BCW Networking at DiCicco’s

The Business Council of WestchesterThe BCW networking events are always at unique and interesting places, like wonderful historic mansions in great locations, often with fantastic views. But last week was something totally new and different; The Hollows, DiCicco & Sons Sleepy Hollow. Its architecture is amazingly unique. Of course, it's a super market. But above the market are meeting rooms, a bar, a terrace restaurant and a large space for events like BCW networking. But we also had a special connection; when we moved back to the States from Belgium, we landed in Eastchester and DiCicco was our local super market. At that time, it was extremely surprising to find a super market with a collection of Belgian beer. For me, that made them special! Also special at our BCW event was meeting John DiCicco. I was so pleased that I could share our 1983/Eastchester DiCicco super market experience with him. In exchange, John helped guide me around their unique building.

& Sons Sleepy Hollow.

Last night…as a member of the VISIONS Bronx-Westchester Advisory Board…I had the privilege of celebrating 100 years of VISIONS Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired at their Centennial Gala at the historic New York Athletic Club in NYC. For a full century, VISIONS has helped people of all ages with visual disabilities build independent, fulfilling lives, and seeing that legacy honored in person was truly remarkable.

Our keynote speaker, Erik Weihenmayer, the first and only blind person to summit Mount Everest, was inspirational. As an athlete and motivational speaker, he embodies the philosophy of turning everyday struggles into everyday greatness, a message that captures exactly what VISIONS represents.

Huge congratulations to this year's honorees: Nancy Miller, former Executive Director and CEO of VISIONS, whose leadership helped shape the organization for years; Jim Holland, Vice President at UPS; and Harriette and Burton Strauss. Their dedication and generosity continue to move this mission forward.

It was also a pleasure to meet Molly Eagan, VISIONS' relatively new CEO, who is already bringing a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the organization's next chapter.
I was especially grateful to share a table with several of my fellow Bronx-Westchester and Brooklyn Advisory Board members. Nights like this remind me exactly why this work matters.
Here's to the next 100 years, VISIONS!

My fellow The Business Council of Westchester member and now also a dear friend, Dawid Wiacek, is trying to raise money for the non-profit Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford. He’s donating all of the proceeds from the sale of his ebook during May, which is National Pet Month. Let’s help him save some pets in need. I just bought one!

Kicking off National Pet Month with a story of heart, purpose, and giving back... with some vibes! 💕

We are so proud to partner with Dawid Wiącek, founder of The Career Fixer (and Paws Crossed adopter!), whose book "Everything My Dog Taught Me About Resumes, Networking & Navigating Career Change" blends career advice with a love of dogs.

After losing his beloved Nacho (a friend and supporter of Paws Crossed), Dawid found his way back to Paws Crossed adopted Scooby Roo —and now, throughout May, 100% of book proceeds will support pets at PCAR. ❤️

"Paws Crossed gave me Scooby Roo when I needed him most," said Wiącek. "This is my way of saying thank you—and of reminding job seekers that the lessons our dogs teach us about loyalty, patience, and connection matter just as much in our careers as they do at home."

For more information and to order your ebook copy, please visit:

Every purchase helps provide food, medical care, and safe shelter for dogs and cats at Paws Crossed!

Thank you Dawid and Scooby Roo!!! ⭐️

A couple of months ago...as a Bronx-Westchester Advisory Board member of VISIONS/Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired... I had the opportunity to see Frankie (featured in the video below), give an outstanding presentation to residents of The Wartburg Adult Care Community about how VISIONS can assist those loosing their eyesight. Frankie is a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist and demonstrated how seniors loosing their eyesight can use assistive devices to enable them to lead normal lives in spite of their disability. Brava Frankie! You are a gift to those you share your wisdom with!
