Does your website work for you?
Now is the age where everyone has a website. Google and Craigslist has taken over the world. So having a website is indeed essential to any marketing plan for any industry and any company. However, is just having a website enough?
To have a web presence is great, to have it appealing to the eyes of your visitors is even greater.. but to have it functioning in such a way that it is "working for you" should be the goal.
I will from time to time post my thoughts on different avenues and subjects that will hopefully help those who are interested in furthering their marketing efforts, resulting in increasing their revenue or bottom line.
My advice for today is take the first step. Whether you ALREADY have a web presence, are in the midst of developing one, or just decided this moment that you need one. The first step should always be what is the goal behind having this website. Do you want to increase your number of clients, do you want to inform the clients you already have, do you want to present something fun and enjoyable and memorable for any user; to use towards your branding efforts, perhaps grow an email list, sell something, there truly is no limit to what your goals can be. Start by figuring that out. Your website should be beautiful, querky, (what ever the personality you want to portray) yet useful.
Be at one with the idea. Be part of the idea, the creation, the implementation. Although it is wise to hire a 3rd party who has the skill sets to help you accomplish getting your website designed and built.. give feedback while in the creative process.. We (developers) are the tool to get your vision across. Anyone not willing to take your input for a grain of salt is probably not the type of person or company you want building your company online persona.
Sounds silly but KNOW what it is your company does .. who your competitors are and WHAT it is you want to accomplish by being online..
Hope this inspires all who reads... why not have a site that works for you... instead of just taking up a parking spot in cyber space.
