Lucky to have had a week long intensive studying with Paul Rand at the Yale Design Summer program, in Switzerland, (just after college). His logos have certainly stood the test of time.

Paul Rand, a legendary graphic designer, created IBM's iconic logo in 1956, evolving it into the 8-bar version in 1972. His design, featuring bold, horizontal stripes, conveyed modernity, precision, and reliability, aligning with IBM's technological identity. Rand's minimalist approach emphasized clarity and versatility, making the logo instantly recognizable. His work for IBM, including posters and packaging, set a benchmark for corporate branding, influencing design for decades with its timeless simplicity and functionality.

Brand development- Logotype for a fine art photographer, who prints her images on gilded paper.
I chose the direction of silver foil stamping for her logomark, incorporating her last name into a ‘chop’- as her artwork takes on an Asian feel. This mark can be integrated onto her pieces as a form of signature, as well.
Shown here is the branding application on business cards- with different visuals on back. Postcards are next. (I must admit, the tactile experience of matte, skin like paper stock against the raised silver foil stamped logo is pretty cool!)

What a wonderful weekend I had up at the Omega Institute- teaching a workshop on using the Oracle deck to heighten one’s intuition. I met fantastic people and reconnected with old friends and goddesses (synchronistic moments were definitely in abundance) . Can’t wait to go back!

The use of metaphor helps to convey the message, on these chapter openers. A large field of background colors punctuate text pages, throughout the book.
