Honoring My Parents, Jerry and Cathy Ortiz
I want to take a moment to remember and honor my amazing parents, Jerry and Cathy Ortiz. My dad worked as a dedicated store manager, and my mom served as the safety supervisor for Lucky Stores.

Back in 1995, I started my own journey at Store 499 as a box boy. It was my dad who gave me advice that changed everything: “Go into produce — you don’t want to have to handle money!” I followed his guidance and moved into produce, and I’ve never forgotten that moment.

I miss them both so much, and I’m forever grateful for their love, support, and the values they taught me. Everything I’ve achieved started with their wisdom and encouragement.
