Today, we’re talking about something cute, sustainable, and self-efficient (no, not you).
Earthships— built partially into the earth with all the recycled materials you can think of (tires, metal, wood, etc) earthships are designed to be 100% sustainable and provide electricity, water, effective sewage systems, and food production.
Architect Mike Reynolds designed the first Earthship in the 1970s during the energy crisis. Today, there are over 3,000 Earthships globally, and since the pandemic, are on the rise and being sold as an “oasis for self-sufficiency”, as well as a solution to the worsening climate and housing shortage.
