Before reaching out to any community organization or local influencer, ask yourself this: What's in it for them?
I see so many small businesses approach partnerships thinking only about what they need: more visibility, more customers, more sales. But the partnerships that actually work? They start with understanding what the other side values.
A neighborhood coffee shop doesn't partner with a bookstore just for cross-promotion. They do it because both businesses share customers who value the same experience: a quiet place to read, quality over speed, supporting local.
That shared value is what makes a partnership authentic. And authenticity is what makes it work.
