- ADDITIONAL snowfall on its way with gusty winds -

Quite an interesting event on our doorstep. Let’s explain.

An Alberta clipper system will be moving through tonight and tomorrow morning for areas hatched in yellow. The clipper system itself will only produce 1-3” inches of snow across the highlighted area. What happens after will be of more significance.

Our winds will shift northwesterly ↘️ allowing the lake effect machine turn back on. This occurs Wednesday afternoon / evening. You can expect this timeframe to be when snow ramps up for our lake effect belts.

In addition, temperatures will sharply drop which could lead to flash freeze potential - especially Wednesday evening.

Snow will continue for several hours, lasting through at least Thursday afternoon if not continuing into Friday morning. ADDITIONAL accumulations when combining both the clipper system & lake effect snow will likely be in the 4-8”+ range for a large chunk of western & northern lower. 8-12”+ is expected in purple with locally higher amounts possible, if not likely for both zones. Amounts will lessen the further east you go.

We very well could get snow squalls that move further east given the wind direction and intensity of the wind. I wouldn’t be shocked to see areas in eastern Michigan end up with a couple inches. The grey zone designates a trace to 2”, but local areas may see 3” should these snow squalls train over the same areas.

- WIND -

Winds will be quite strong during the day on both Wednesday & Thursday with gusts up to 40mph possible across the entire state, and localized areas to 50mph close to the west Michigan lakeshore / UP.

Given the expectation of continuous snow for areas of Michigan combining with these gusty winds, we anticipate not only isolated power outages, but also the potential, if not likelihood of blowing and drifting snow, whiteout conditions, and perhaps near blizzard like conditions at times in the heaviest snow squalls.

Joshua James Bar and Grill's website was created utilizing RWD Responsive Web Design & great photography opportunities with the group that was there (Walther's Farm Party). WE ARE SO HAPPY TO ANNOUCE THEY ARE OPEN FOR DINE-IN!! They are now open 4:00pm to 10:00pm 7 days a week. Indoor dining up to 25% capacity -- along with take-out. They are located right along the snowmobile trail.

Our Township has a NEW website!

McMillan Township of Luce County is located in the Newberry, MI. We created this new website with a variety of interactive tools for the community including: Online Tax Search, Board of Directors, Maps, Board Minutes, Photos of our Township Hall and our area, and an Events Calendar for the people of McMillan Township to utilize.

It was such a pleasure to create this website for the Township that I live in. The Board is wonderful and I've known everyone for quite a few years! There is a lot of News, History, BOD, Photos, etc...
