My original idea: one big block with the border and Happy Birthday — very patchy and inconsistent.



The original idea: one big block with the border and Happy Birthday — this was as good as it got and not good enough.

Take 2: I cut out HBD saying to use it as a stamp — floppy and hard to work with.

Take 3: a linoleum block — easier to carve because the material is firmer, but does not work with a stamp pad which is what I want use for ink.

But now looking back, this is not so bad?

And I actually really like this one. Hmmm maybe I should try the original design on a firmer block? Thoughts?
