My mom was a schoolteacher in New Jersey. Many of her students had parents who commuted to work in NYC. Fifteen years ago today, 30 kids in her school system lost a parent. What’s even more chilling: 7 of those children lost both parents.

Imagine a child in elementary school, coming home from school to learn both Mom and Dad will never come home again.

When you see men or women in uniform, take a moment to thank them. We are fighting people who want to end our way of life. Let’s not take it for granted. —Jeff Berman
