Let me just speak to the one who Valentine’s Day may not look like you feel it should, or like everyone else else’s. In 25 years of marriage my husband and I have gone through some trials where we weren’t able to buy each other gifts or go out for special holidays. I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom for many years. I also went through many medical trials which have left us financially unstable many times. When you see everyone else going into debt over holidays or going above and beyond it’s easy to get your feelings hurt, it’s easy to get offended, it’s easy to get depressed. But flip your script! Change your perspective! If you need to make a physical list of your blessings. Listen to worship music. In the Bible, David said he encouraged himself in the Lord. Love letters are free, write one! Post it notes around the house! Bake a cake of cookies! Dance in the kitchen! There’s lots of romantic, creative inexpensive ways to celebrate! There were times when I couldn’t see provision as love. Love languages are amazing, and if your lover is providing for you, loving you through the trials, making sure you’re safe, there is so much to that. Flowers are beautiful, but they die, chocolates are amazing, but we eat them and get fat. But at the end of the day, who’s still here? I pray that each one of you observe God‘s blessings in action today! I’m extremely thankful for my husband & family! God has been very gracious to me!
