I debated a lot with myself as to whether I should post this gallery on FB. I am not a hunter but fully respect and support those who do.
During a sad time in my life experiencing the death of a very dear family member, circumstances delayed any funeral service and therefore we spent an extended wonderful period of time with family.
It so happened that Saturday, September 4th was the first day of Dove hunting in SC. As a photographer, I was messing around learning how to take and edit photos with only a Smartphone. I was invited by a cousin to be a part of his sponsored hunt and got to see first hand how hunting is really all about the companionship, friendship and camaraderie of hunting together. So young and old, male and female gathered that day while I "shot" with my camera (Smartphone only). In my own mind, I felt like I was doing documentary photography from beginning to end of such an event. For me it truly was the first time. Life has a way of throwing stuff at us. We can choose to ignore it or delve in with our heart and soul.
Aunt Becka is now at Peace with our Lord and circumstances brought me to this place with fond memories of those who have died and those who will go on living for what ever time each of us has left to live our lives to the fullest, in the way that our God would have us serve others.
I know some folks may dislike what I've documented. Please know that I respect that.
September 4th was the first day of Dove Hunting Season and I had the opportunity to document a slice of life that I had never experienced before. It was a wonderful exposure to the commaraderie and expertise that surrounds this form of human bonding.
