Custom elements, intentionally built icons, custom textures-a brand is far more than just a logo. It’s an experience!
•
Creating a brand is a very intentional and strategic process. It’s connecting the functional parts of your business with the emotional and the visuals are a big part of that.
•
Great brands focus on its audience and creating an experience that draws them in and naturally connects with them on an emotional level. This is done through your message, design, and their overall experience.
•
Some of my favorite brand advice, show up intentionally across all touch points to create an experience that gets your audience excited about what you have to offer ✨

Fun fact, Avocado Pantry was my very first fully developed brand design project...🥑

It was my senior year in college and I was in the most random art class that was very far from graphic design. A lot of painting and gluing torn colored paper together to create "art"...yep, colored paper.

It felt like it was the most random art class I had even been in and just overall not well organized. Little did I know this class would lead me to booking my first logo design client!

It was finals and we had to create something for this class. Luckily the professor agreed to allow the graphic designers to create a design we could use in our portfolio.

A full brand design that I personally loved and found joy in creating was something I had yet to accomplish in my 4 years studying design. So, I decided to create Avocado Pantry.

I found a cafe that had a terrible logo and an adorable name and I went for it...

The design got me an A on the final and lead me to booking my first logo design client a few months later.

Years later and I still get inquires based on this project alone! I can't help but look back at that weird art class and strange projects and just laugh that this stemmed from months of gluing paper

Does branding really make a difference?

I love this question, not only because I love to talk about branding but because it’s something I think every business owner needs to hear…

The truth is investing in a brand designer is going to be game changing for your business.

Ever heard of the saying “work smarter not harder” that’s exactly what brand design does for you and your business
•
A good brand design and strategy is indispensable because it works while you sleep.
•
If done well your brand has the power to double your audience, double your monthly revenue, and allow you to grow your team by naturally building connection, establishing trust, and bringing awareness to just how great your company really is.
•
As a brand designer I’ve seen time and time again just how wildly effective design is as a tool to meet business goals and scale a successful brand.

So, to answer the question does branding really make a difference, absolutely, it makes the biggest difference…

I almost became a nutritionist!
•
I was a freshman in college trying to decide between two majors, marketing and nutrition, which makes me laugh today because I’m really bad at math and dreaded every science class I had ever taken.
•
On this journey of figuring out what I wanted to do for the “rest of my life” I took courses in both fields to decide.
•
When I tell you I hated both I can’t even describe how awful sitting in a college science class was for this creative heart.
•
It dawned on me that if I can’t even sit in a class having to do with my field how would I make it a career, a major part of my life?
•
After class one day I heard about graphic design and immediately knew I wanted to add that into the running of majors...one of the sole reasons being at the time you only needed to take one college math course to graduate (sign me up, am I right?)
•
In my first design course we started with learning Photoshop and I think the project scope was to create a graphic that had to do with travel.
•
Luckily for you I found the graphic I made for that project which ironically has a green background close to the green in Dear Brunch’s color palette. Swipe to my first graphic design project EVER!
•
I had such a blast in that course I don’t even think I was two weeks in before declaring graphic design as my major.
•
You see, I figured if I wake up everyday with this excitement to go to class and passion to be a great designer then a major part of my life will be filled with that excitement and passion someday.
•
That was truly one of the single best decisions of my life because 7 years later I wake up every single day and walk into a job that I love. I get to be one of the reasons my clients remember why they love what they do and get to spend more time with their family at the end of the day making it a day well spent in my book.
•
If you’re anything like me and experience those overwhelming days of burnout and discouragement you’re not yet where you want to be I invite you to remember your why and step in to the encouragement knowing you are where you once dreamed you would be...and that’s more than enough! 💕

As a designer sometimes you get caught up in a specific style and designing in a way that you once loved starts to feel very overdone or monotonous.
•
I recently started challenging myself to take on projects that I know would require a lot of inspiration and strategy. The Honey Bar being one!
•
And let me tell you, this has been a blast!
•
I truly believe this is key to loving what you do everyday.
•
To challenge and inspire yourself to grow, learn, and further develop your skill set.
•
So, to the burned out individual reading this
•
Take some time, find out what you love to do or aspire to do, and just start doing it.
•
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t even have to be good because it’s there to help you grow, feel inspired, and just love life 💕

Specifically why you need a brand and not just a logo…
•
I know it’s tempting. A logo seems like all you need. It’s what you can add to your business cards, website, etc. to show up as a professional.
•
Requesting just a logo is like requesting the icing without the cake…
•
Yep, your logo is like the icing on a cake. It’s nice to look at and gives a great first impression, but it wouldn’t serve you the same without its foundation.
•
Every great logo has a solid branding foundation that it sits on just like every great cake has a solid foundation for the icing to sit on.🍰
•
One exists without the other but doesn’t serve an audience well on its own!
•
Here are a few things you’ll notice your logo doesn’t cover within your brand…
•
1️⃣Your logo isn’t what connects with your audience on an emotional level

2️⃣Your logo isn’t why your audience will buy from you

3️⃣Your logo doesn’t communicate your full story

4️⃣Your logo doesn’t develop trust with your audience

It’s official! We have Instagram templates in the shop🥂
•
To be 100% transparent there’s a lot of effort that goes into creating a styled Instagram feed and it can be a lot at times especially on the design side. So I definitely see the need for more styled templates!
•
We took a poll a few weeks ago to see what you’d like to see in the shop next and Instagram templates were #1.There’s a few options in the shop but this one is by far my favorite 🙌🏼
