Have you updated your social media bios lately?

Here are 7 questions to ask yourself as you audit your business’s social media bios:

1. Is your profile picture a high quality image of either you or your business’s logo? If you don’t have a high resolution logo or a professional headshot, consider investing some time and/or money into
having one

2. Does your title describe what you do? (For example: instead of just having your company name like “heartBOLD”, add a tagline that describes what you do like “heartBOLD | BOLD marketing with heart”)

3. Is your handle the same as (or as close as possible) to your business name? (Tip: If just starting your business adventure, check to see if the business name you’re thinking of isn’t already taken on social
media.)

4. Does your bio include keywords that your ideal client would be searching for? (Tip: Think about your ideal audience and what words they may be searching for. It’s also helpful to tag your business location
if you provide local services)

5. Is it clear how you help your clients

Filing your Articles of Organization is the official step that makes your LLC real✨

And, the good news? The filing process is super easy! Here’s a step by step guide, using South Carolina as an example:

1. Gather your required information - You’ll need your business name, principal office address, registered agent information, and whether your LLC is member-managed or manager-managed.
2. Complete the Articles of Organization form - In South Carolina, you’ll file directly through the Secretary of State’s website here: https://businessfilings.sc.gov

You can also review the LLC filing requirements here:

3. Pay the state filing fee - Submit your filing and pay the required fee online.

Not located in SC? No problem! Do a quick google search of “Articles of Organization filing application in (your state)”, and you should find the application easy peasy😉

Did you know one of the most helpful ways to begin your journey of blogging is to create a brand statement for your posts?

Grayson, heartBOLD’s Social Media Coordinator, recently took a course on blog management and blog content planning and here is a sneak peek into what she learned:

Creating a brand statement for your blog comes from four key outlets:

1. The purpose of your blog (This might be to establish your brand as a market expert, to increase your business exposure, to develop quality
content, or to generate additional revenue)

2. Your target audience (Tip: Take some time to create a few fake personas of your target audience. This includes age, gender, income, location, job title, interests, and behaviors. This helps to know where, when, and why you should share your blog content to make it most effective)

3. Your blogging style (Tip: Find four to five descriptive words that embody your brand values and what you wish to accomplish with your blog. Our five words are 1) informative, 2) inspiring, 3)
collaborative, 4) out-of-the-box, and 5) accessible!)

4. The goals you want to achieve (Tip: Make sure that these goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound)

Here is heartBOLD’s brand statement to use as an example: The heartBOLD blog is an informative, inspiring, and out-of-the-box blog
that is focused on providing content about the small business world to women entrepreneurs, eager learners, and aspiring business owners, so that we can empower individuals to continue their small business start-up journey.

Remember all those leads from January and February who said, “I’m interested… just not right now”? May is the perfect time to re-engage with your cold leads from the beginning of the year. Sometimes the fastest way to increase revenue isn’t more traffic, it’s a better follow-up strategy.

People’s budgets shift. Priorities change. Problems get more urgent. And the businesses that position themselves as a steady resource are the ones that win.

- Before you focus only on generating new leads this month, ask yourself:

- Have I followed up with everyone from Q1?

- Did I provide additional value in my last touchpoint?

- What am I doing to make their answer an easy yes?

Sustainability isn’t just for big corporations. Small businesses have the power to make a positive impact, too! This Earth Day, we’re thinking about how marketing can create less waste.

1. Review the companies you work with and/or order from. Could you make any changes to the clients or vendors you currently work with that are more in line with your values, especially surrounding environmental sustainability?

2. Reduce physical waste by not ordering merch in bulk. Instead of bulk merch that often goes unused, consider more intentional options like print-on-demand. Create a curated raffle basket with items your ideal client would genuinely love (with your logo on it, of course!) and collect emails for entry. This is an easy way to build your email list, build lasting brand recognition, connect more intentionally with your community, and reduce waste. Win-win-win-win-win!)

3. Reuse materials whenever possible (Pro tip: If you don’t already have a reusable water bottle, consider ordering one with your company’s brand so you can rep your business while you stay hydrated and also reduce waste from single-use plastic water bottles)

4. Recycle! Especially single-use plastic water bottles if you do happen to use some while you’re waiting for your branded water bottle to arrive
